Positional combat with no grind. That sounds hot.
If there's castle sieges with mass pvp, this will be the game that will make me to upgrade my desktop.

releasing sequels for standard MMOs is suicide as it destabilizes the paying subscriber base
Guild Wars 1 has no monthly fees so they don't have to worry about this
Asheron's Call 2 extinct, first game still running and Everquest 2 i don't think is as popular as the original which is also still running

You bring up a very good point. If an MMO wants a version 2.0, they need to build on the original formula. I think Blizzard has it right where they expand their features and stuff in WoW in each expansion. They typically modernize the engines along the way. Through the expansions; they've made some drastic changes to the whole scripting engine and some graphical improvements.
I never really played GW1 but I am very interested in GW2.

I can not wait for GW2, it will be a definite purchase for me. I probably will not play it much. GW1 was inspirational to me because it was a technical masterpiece. At the time there was no game that looked as good and ran as smooth as GW1 on entry level hardware. I am surprised that EA/Activision did not buyout the GW development studio, those guys know how to write really tight code.

Beta is coming out in the second half of this year. That helps a lot as I'm sure a ton of people will be upgrading their rigs to play BF3. Nice to be able to get some benchies on this puppy too before committing the money.

Not sure I like this, GW1 was not short of skills and combination of skills to kill things, adding gear packs and a defensive unit like the engineer might make things a bit too complex.

If its anything like GW1, if you pre-order the game you will get free access to all the beta sessions.
I beat the game and all the expansions except for EOTN, which I got 3/4 of the way through. I wonder if it would be worth re-installing and finishing off EOTN assuming anyone still plays the game, if the benefits of importing a character are actually worth while.
