GVR - 07/08 Cypress pass discounts expire October 31st
Cypress Mountain has made a lot of upgrades over the summer and as many predicted they are charging through the nose (some passes are up over 25%). Still the best prices are for early purchase - only 2 weeks to go.

Cheers,

Thanks for the heads up Tom.
I'm Still deciding... I dunno if I want to get one. I hate that they don't offer a one day/week pass. They offer a one night/week pass but I personally hate skiing at night because it is hard to see the bumps and curves of the hill when it is dark. Regardless of the artificial lighting, it's not that good (especially when it is foggy.)
I don't want to buy a full time pass as I work most of the week (I'll never take advantage of it.) I hate how that they only offer a night pass or a full time pass. They should have a one day/week pass, but I guess they just want to make MONEY.

How do the prices at Cypress compare to those at Grouse?

They are very different places to ski/board in my opinion. Grouse is more families, cypress is more teens and older. If you wanted Grouse then the time to buy is at the end of the season.

So as it stands now, Cypress is cheaper because Grouse's early bird has already expired?
Any thoughts on Seymour?

Having missed out on the Seymour Early Bird sale and the Grouse Y2Play, I'll probably do what I did last year and just buy a Cypress SkiCard.

The north shore is for little boys, Baker is where the Men ski....lol. With the exchange rate so good i would make the trip down to baker, good snow all the time, lots of vertical.

Cypress is becoming expensive and way too crowded.
Gotta head to the interior for the smaller mountains IMO.

Yeah I don't think I am going to get one. It is too expensive. I'll want to try other mountains anyhow. I love to go to Mt. Baker, never skied there before. How far of a drive is it from Downtown Vancouver?

Seymour is very small and has a much more "family owned and operated kind of feel"... they have basically 3 lifts. One is slow and the other is slow as well... The only problem is that one of these chairs has to go amazingly high up the mountain and so it takes forever. Grouse is a larger establishment with 2 high speed quads. This should make it the faster mountain but unfortunately the massive volume of people that ski on that hill bogs down the lifts tremendously (on weekends, holidays etc.).. expect to wait up to an hour on weekends after 11am. Weekdays are much better. Lines don't get bad until 1pm and don't get THAT bad. It's also the most accessible because there is no drive up the mountain and there is bus access. Cypress is the largest mountain with a few lifts... most are high speed. IMO, Cypress is the best mountain on the north shore. The prices for a single visit to the mountain are cheapest at Seymour. Their early bird rates are good as well. Bar none, Grouse has the best season pass early bird rate. Cypress has the most expensive prices on passes and daily tix. But, you do get what you paid for.

For Cypress prices, you might as well as get an Edge cart for Whistler / Blackcomb. Big mountains with high speed chairs. Just pack your own lunch and save.

You forgot about the 1:30hr trip or so to get there. Where I live, add another 45min.

Not to mention the half a tank of gas for the round trip.
