Hair gel
I need advice on hair gel.
The "cheap" hair gel I bought doesnt seem to work.
I want to spike my hair, small-medium length, thick hair.
Anything hair gel recommendations and where it can be purchased. (prefer something local)
Thanks.Last edited by z3r0; Dec 10th, 2005 at 08:11 PM.

Go to Shoppers and buy some spiking gel.

Lard. It's cheap and natural and you don't have to worry about all those chemicals.

Coming from someone who has befriended MANY professional hairdressers....i'll say DO NOT buy anything thats like 1.99 for a LB
When i saw Fructis' spiking gel i read the back and was SOLD....little did i know it was spiking gel for ppl with THIN hair lol...guys like us(thick hair) need a little more help
right now i'm using Tigi Gel(you have to get it from your hairdresser)
previously i was using JOICO MAXimum hold or whatever the strongest one was called...and that worked WONDERFULLY .....it's same price as the TIGI(approx 15 dollars taxes in for the bottle) and it'll last you the year(probably more) as long as you don't over gel ur hair regularly
so in short.....u want quality....u do NOT want ur hair falling out with cheap products out tehre.....fructis is good but even tehir spiking gel wasn't enough for me
hope this helped

There are specific spiking products if your hair is long or you could use a good pomade or styling cream.

ahh yes, spiking 'glue' and the likes work VERY WELL...but they are total biznatches to wash out of your hair
i find a nice mix of gel/very little wax/spiking glue works well
