Harper 'supports intolerance' by not attending Outgames says KD Lang
http://www.cbc.ca/story/sports/natio...ames-lang.htmlPrime Minister Stephen Harper has chosen to "support intolerance" by refusing to attend the first World Outgames for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered athletes, singer k.d. lang said Friday.
Guess he knows he wouldn't get a warm reception

At a time such as this, I can really see this event as being on the list of priorities for Prime Minister Harper.

Isn't it possible that he's too busy to attend? He is the Prime Minister of Canada remember...

I don't get it.
Whats the point of these outgames? Does being gay or lesbian make you run any faster or slower? I understand that they are trying to promote social change through sport but it seems ironic that on one hand they want equality irregardless of your sexual orientation but on the other hand they create an event only for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) athletes.
Ahh...nevermind. I was wrong.
Very cool Indeed.Empowerment (PRIDE), the games welcome everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, age, gender, race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, physical challenge, political beliefs, physical ability, athletic/artistic skills or HIV/ health status. There are no minimum athletic standards to qualify for the Outgames. The only requirement is the desire to support the ideals of the Outgames. People with specific needs or disabilities are integrated as full-fledged participants, volunteers, officials and spectators. By accepting the Outgames' challenge, all Outgames participants automatically become winners.

Who is KD Lang?
Why is she relevant?
Old 'has been' that still thinks that her thoughts matter.

I'm obviously no fan of Steve, but this may be relevant:

P.S. I am interested in knowing where the PM will be during this thing. I want to see what's more important then this. Honestly, I am interested. Maybe something is higher priority and I want to see what._______________

KD Lang has some balls in saying that with all the PM is dealing with in the world today.
