Has anyone imported a large order from the U.K. and roughly know duty costs?
My order would be about $300 CDN... I can't find how to estimate anywhere and the border services agency phone line is closed today!
I've heard it can be 1/3 of the cost of the order, but does anyone have any actual experience with this? Thanks!

It depends what it was declared as. Its based on where its made, what it is and how much you paid including shipping. %6 is the normal amount. You will also get nailed with HST.

So would it be roughly almost 20%? I guess I was just grouping HST in with duties... I wish there was a site like "the final cost" for international shipments and not just the US :S

Again, it really depends on what is is. The CBSA has a 100 page PDF you can look through to find the classification and the rate. You are also going to get hit with brokerage fees. Who is importing the shipment? (ie how is it being shipped to you?)
