Tigerdirect.ca has the Cable Unlimited IrDA Wireless Bridge USB adapter for sale, $14.00 with a $11.00 mail in rebate, so the total is $3.

After trying hours and hours trying to get a USB data cable to work with my Samsung E635 cell phone, I gave up and went out to buy this thing, great timing eh? Works like a charm.

Anyone knows if this will allow you to use your laptop as a universal learning remote control...
