PTFE Tape (1/2" x 260") adds extra seal on any threaded joints. Can be used on threading in plastic, brass, aluminum, galvanized steel and black iron piping. For use on NPT threads up to 3/8 Inch to create a clean, positive seal on threaded connections.

why are you not supposed to use this for gas lines?

should you use pipe dope (grey goop) in addition to this?
or instead of this?

This particular one isn't rated to be used for gas lines.

I've always used only Master's Pro-Dope without tape for any gas connections.

Thanks, OP,
MASTERS 1/2 inchX 480 inch White Tape is almost 2 times longer and costs $0.74 (this is regular price BTW), used for the same purpose. So, if you have store close to you, it is better option, otherwise free shipping wins.

Yellow tape should be used with gas lines, it is sufficient for connecting your BBQ and similar purposes.

I think they sell this at Dollar stores now. 6 roll pack for buck or two.
