I'm no expert on drills, but seems like the Ryobi is the better deal. I know Dewalt has a better reputation, but consider they're both made in China.
Do the additional 2 volts make a huge difference?

I bought some Ryobi products including a hole saw recently, and in my opinion the quality is very good.

If anyone is looking for JUST the drill, I want the driver. I'd even let you keep both batteries and the charger.

PM if you're in the west end (Miss, Oakville, etc) and are interested.

Just to confirm, these lithium batteries are compatible with older 18V Ryobi tools? I need replacement 18V batteries for my Ryobi cordless tools. Is this a good method of replacement?

I have both. The Bosch drill is way better, faster more torque. The impact drivers are more comparable. I put 5000+ 2 1/2" screws into the floors during a home reno with the Ryobi - this was with the old Ni-Cad batteries, the lithium's perform better.
I'd say for the average home owner who wants the highest price-to-performance ratio - this is the best deal seen in many months.

The Dewalt is drill only, no impact driver. But then, I wouldn't buy a Ryobi tool of any kind at any price after using a friend's Ryobi tools.

Both Lowe's and CT have drills & drivers under $100, some under $50. Haven't checked HD yet. Worth spending some time on those sites (and surfing in general) if you need a drill, driver, or impact wrench or driver. Anyway, thanks to OP for posting a complete kit for $99.00. For some it would be fine. I'm just saying that it's one of those cases where a bit more money gets you significantly better quality, for those who care.

Yes, that what I did a while back too. Tools perform a fair bit better with the lithium batteries. Charger in this kit is dual-chemistry. One I got in the old set only does lithium.

The fact that they're both made in China is absolutely pointless. Most things are made in China. Are all brands & models of cars that are made in the USA the same? If so, why the huge price differences? Factories make products according to the specifications and materials requirements of their clients. Yes, some factories cheat more than others and save costs in dubious ways, but that still doesn't mean there's no difference between anything made in any factory in the country.

DeWalt is not at the top of the heap but it's a lot higher than Ryobi is.

They don't. But it's not a fair comparison - that particular Bosch is much higher spec than the other two. But I'd say that even a Bosch of comparable price is a better tool than either Dewalt or Ryobi.
Bosch > DeWalt > Ryobi (in general).

As long as your tools take the One+, it will work. These are the P102 (slim) batteries. Two of them cost $109 so if this kit comes with 2, it's really worth it.

You can't compare a drill to an impact driver...

You're linking a bunch of NiCads. The Ryobi is Li-Ion.

The problem with the Mastercraft stuff is they keep changing the battery design, so when you need new batteries, you can't buy them. This Ryobi uses the One+ batteries which has been around for a long time, means you can buy replacement batteries when you need it. Even better, buy this kit for the battery and sell the tools. Example, someone on here already just wants the battery, and someone else on here already just wants the impact driver.

I've had this set before, and it's actually very good. Ryobi has had a bad rep as being a cheap brand, and although they're not high-end Milwaukee or DeWalt quality, these are very good for general around the house or medium usage. The quality has improved. They're actually made by the same company that makes Milwaukee tools, as well as the OEM manufacturer for some Craftsman and Rigid tools. I don't know how they'd hold up if you were a professional, but the build is great, quality is good, battery life is good.

These use the Lithium Ion One+ batteries, and are backwards compatible with the old Nickel-Cadmium One+ Design as well. The batteries will work with most of Ryobi's other tools as well, which is a bonus.

I'd highly recommend these, as $99 is a pretty good deal. I bought these a year and a bit ago for $129, got a year out of it then sold them both for $100 as I got the Milwaukee M18 set recently.

That's just marketing even though Dewalts says otherwise, 20V MAX is the exact same as 18V (nominal)
18V batteries fully charged are 20V, 20V max batteries when in use, drops to 18V...

The only advantage is that the new 20V MAX have extra pins to let the tool/charger "talk" to the battery in term of temperature (older 18V battery had no thermistor and feature was built-in the charger while only newer 18V has it), slimer grip, etc

This kit also have the better Ryobi drill with the 1/2" single handed sleeve chuck along with the quick 1h charger, good deal I'd say.
These tools are my by TTi Group which also owns Milwaukee and AEG and is also the OEM for RIDGID and some Craftman tools (they also own Dirt Devil, Hoover, ORECK, Homelite and VAX)

I also like how they're upfront with their battery capacity while Dewalt is not.
