HD Wireless Media Player?
D-Link DSM-510 Streams HD Content to Your TV
Review:
DSM-510.jpg Streaming media files from your PC to your living room isn't exactly what we'd call new, but D-Link is announcing its DSM-510 Wireless Media Player as being one of the first devices that can tackle high-def content. The player connects to your home network via an Ethernet or wireless (802.11g) connection (it can only do HD over a wired connection) and has an HDMI output as well as support for optical digital audio. On the video side of things, it can stream WMV9, MPEG-1/2/4, AVI, and XVID files.
Question:
I do have a wired ethernet connection through the wall near the entertainment center, although I'm not sure how my wired connection will access my base workstation upstairs. How would I do this? Are there other products that do this more efficiently?

I saw a company from Markham or something selling a unit at Sam's Club. I got one of the ladies cards (it was a roadshow, they go to different locations) so if I can find it at home I will post it. They have a HD unit that can do wireless/wired internet. I am not sure if it can do HD on wireless... I imagine it has to do with the amount of data you need for HD and the limitation on wireless though. I suggest you go wired if you can.

The Dlink media server has server software that runs on your PC. Install the software and click on the files you want to add. I am serving video, pictures and my music library. The Dlink media server can aquire an address via DHCP or it can be input manually. It will then search for your server software and list it in a menu. It is possible for the Dlink to access multiple servers (even different name brands). If you choose wireless everything works exactly the same except if you have a WEP enabled wireless you must enter in all the data before the box can synchronize with the server. There is a remote that will allow you to toggle back and forth between features.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Audidude,
So if i have an internet connection near my tv, the dlink media server will be found automatically? I'd rather not run it through wireless, so as to have faster speeds. I guess where the confusion is, how will the dlink system connect to the dlink media server through a wired connection?
The internet connection comes from my router, but is not connected to my workstation (does that make sense?)

Wait a week and see what Apple announces about their iTV for Mac/PC. There are rumours that it has 802.11n and that apparently has enough bandwidth for HDTV wirelessly.

No.. The Zio one wasn't the correct product, neither was the one linked from NCIX. I must have thrown out the card because I couldn't find it.
Sorry...
