I have a Toshiba 42HL167 TV and got this from Canadian tire today:

Inspired by the Mohu Leaf discussion:

I wanted to test the waters and see how it goes.
I plug it in and I am getting ZERO channels. Complete noise - nothing is even coming in a little bit. Any ideas why?
I'm located in a downtown condo facing SE. It's not RIGHT against the window as the cable is too short, but ya...

First thing you are scanning in Air/Antenna mode? Also does your tv have ATSC/QAM tuners? What type of cabling did you use from the ant in on the TV to the atenna is it RG6?

Return it to CT and order the Mohu Leaf instead. I am impressed by the great reviews.

Not hijacking this thread.
As a side note of caution!
A buddy was interested in OTA and cutting his cable. Location in Toronto was the penthouse of a large tower at St.Clair & Bathurst, but facing north. I set-up the equipment (a good digital tuner and I had a few antenna from my own install to try) on the balcony, facing north/west (NWN).... NOTHING! When I hung the antenna over the rail, I got a few Buffalo channels weakly (nothing local, location is everything) OTH: I have had good luck in two other examples of facing north with ground reflection allowing the locals, but if you're too high in the air Zip nada..

It's more than just a couple. This link will give you an idea of the various TV channels in the area, and where their transmitters are located.

If you don't have a balcony, you would be better off getting a ClearStream C2 and attach it as close to your window as possible. Even though the C2 is un-amplified, it has a LOT more gain than any of those indoor amplified antennas so you would be better off as a result. The ClearStream C2 is also fairly compact so it is suitable for either indoor or outdoor use. To get even more channels, you could also get a Channel Master CM-3410 amplifier which will provide a nice boost without the overload of strong signals from the CN tower.
If you have a balcony, installing the antenna outdoors would be even better.

I must be either lucky and/or stupid, but I got such a GREAT experience with my first attempt with OTA (almost 2 years ago): The cheapest available convertor box ($25), on my 30 Years old Sony Trinitron 19" tube TV, and just using the Rabbit Ears that came with the Sony TV, located on top of the TV,in the bedroom facing East (I'm in Mississauga, near Sq.1). I get crystal clear 4,5,9,17,19,41 and 7 sometimes, but no luck with 2 (NBC). Damn, couldn't watch the US Open golf. Ah well, as in all of life - u win some and u loose some

Cheers.
