HDTV Help: Samsung 4096D vs. Sony KDL-40XBR2

I need major help.
For the above two tvs, I can't decided which one to go with.
Sony, I feel, is the best in terms of quality and sharpness, but it's also the most expensive. Whereas Samsung 4096d provides nice quality too and is a bit less in terms of the cost. And I gotta consider if i want to purchase extended warranties...so does anybody know about the durability of both? (other than 60,000 hrs lifespan)
