Heating in Home

My heat is currently set for 72 F but the place still feels cold. Last year my heat was set to 70 and 71. Any suggestions on why the place still feels cold?

Thanks!

Well, it could be you are just a year older, and older people need more heat to be comfortable.

Or it could be that your relative humidity is too low. When the moisture in your skin evaporates into the dry air, you will feel cooler. That is why humans sweat in hot weather, the sweat evaporates and we feel cooler.

Low relative humidity is usually only a problem on cold winter days when your furnace sends a lot of moisture up the chimney, but you should still check what level you have in your home, and use a humidifier to increase it if it is too low.

Make sure all of your windows are closed.
Make sure your vents/dampers are opened in the correct position.
Confirm the temperature on your tstat with another thermometer.
It's the beginning of the cold season, it will always feel colder because you're not used to it. ie. 10'C feels very cold now, 10'C in March and you will be walking around in shorts.

Do you have a ceiling fan? If so, turn it on low and make sure it`s turning the correct way.

Canada, Eh!!
Did you change tstat? We had old style tstat and then changed to touch tstat [not smart wifi] and noticed that had to put tstat higher then before. Measured temp with another thermometer and discovered that tstat was 4 F high so just adjusted temp offset in tstat settings.

Any reno?

Check that vents open and dampers in winter position [if have]
