help again! on what to buy to replace PDA
having received much helpful response on my previous thread, i now again humbly beseech the advice from my omnipotent fellow RFDers...
I used to have a Dell X50v PDA...used it for calendar scheduling and doubled as ipod (with a 2g sd filled with music...)
Just lost that poor little thing last week and is unsure of what to replace it with... not sure if i still want a PDA, but not sure if a Treo or BlackBerry Pearl is worth the $$$...
99% of the time, i just use it for scheduling and listening to music on the go...what do you guys suggest?
PDA? SmartPhone? a walkman cell phone?
thanks guys!

A Blackberry is really not considered a PDA. Do not get one thinking it will have the same access to the 100's if not 1000's of programs available for Pocket Pc and PALM' OS's. You're in the right path though, a PDA-PHONE is the way to go! Saves from carrying two devices.
I personally use a Treo 600 right now and want to upgrade to the Treo 680 as soon as it comes out. I have used the IMATE JAM and the IMATE PDA2k (pocket PC phones) and have found them to not be as simple/fast/reliable to use as PALM OS. But coming from a PPC I guess you may prefer a Windows OS. There's lots of options! Check out www.howardforums.com (they have wicked B/S/T forums for cellphones and smartphones) or the B/S/T: Cellphones here on RFD.
Goodluck finding the right device to suit ur needs.
EDIT: The TX is also a good PALM pda too. Slim, sexy, gorgeous screen, wifi. $200 for a refurb at CanadaComputers too.

I have a Palm Tungsten E with keyboard that I picked up offa craigslist for $75.
I put in a $20 1 gig card (NCIX) and it is a great mp3 player. For that price you can't go wrong, and the entertainment value from all the Palm programs is a bonus.
The productivity software is excellent, including being able to work on MS Word documents.
I also watch movies on it. A 1 hour TV show takes up about 33 megs on the card and the audio is good and the video is not bad either.
The only thing is that it can't do wifi, but I played with wifi on a TX for a while and I'm not convinced that wifi on a PDA is that great. The TX has a great screen though.
