Help!? CPU fan speed ...really high..lot of noise
Anywho, today I turned on my computer and I noticed that there was alot of noise coming from my case..
So i looked at the sensor..and the CPU fan was at 5000 rpm!!!
It usually is about 2500..or 2650....but 5000!?...like...what!
What should I do?..

What is the cpu temp ? Maybe it's spinning faster because the cpu is getting hotter.

Where is your fan getting power from ? Mobo ? PS ?
Does it have a sensor (ie. 'smart' fan) ?
Is the CPU HSF really hot ?

The cpu temp right now is ~ 38 degrees (its alot hotter actually, its usually around...33-35 ish)....The fan is connected to the mobo..and I'm using the Cool and Quiet technology from AMD (if thats the answer to your question)..

Is your HSF dirty by any chance? Layers of dust will make CPU temps go high and once the temps go high the CPU speeds up to try to cool the HSF.
But then again that could be a sign that the fan will die...

CPU temperature also varies greatly based on processor activity.
You should be thrilled with 38, my baseline is 50 and it hits 60 on hardcore gaming. This is with one of largest all-copper heatsinks in existence (something rediculous like 110 fins), and 2 case fans...
