HELP!! HELP!!! with MAGGOTS
ALL
I'm having problemw dealing with my garbage. The slightest heat produces a lot of maggots. I spent more time cleaning my bin. I am wondering if there is any spray or item I can use to prevent this $$hit.
I have started double bagging with the biodegrabable bags of course.
I will start building a food compost but they may end up in the green bin anyhow, so whats the difference.
Garbage sits outside the house(backyard), with lid open. No difference
The last thing anyone wants is maggots crawling to the house.
The garbage folks have not said anything yet, will they pick it up when they see stuff like that. Obviously its the summer heat(LOL) as well.
Any suggestions are welcome.
thanks

If it's actually maggots, it's likely you are mixing meats/bones/fat into your garbage. Or if not that, then fat residue is on whatever you're throwing into the garbage.
Bag the meat/bones/fatty stuff into a separate bag and tie it air-tight shut. Make sure there are no leaks.
Also, clean out your garbage bin so that there's no residue in them either. Try to keep the garbage away from heat to keep the smells contained and prevent the attraction of flies.
