Sure looks like a PDA, cell phone connector on one side and a DB 9 or 15 on the other. I'd go with Kasakato's take on this.

I have a couple of old PDAs (Sony Clies) that use that same thin connector. Both of mine are USB on the other end, but serial was probably an option even longer ago. I also have a Sony MP3 player (NWE5) that uses that thin connector, but again, the other end is USB.
