I don't know about Digistar, but Sanyo has a better reputation. They did pretty well in Consumer Report a couple of years ago.

Help me choose between these Two TV's Please!!
So at Walmart this week they have:
a 27" Sanyo MTS stero TV for $199 (not flat screen)
or

Help me decide--Which is better?Last edited by BrendaK; Oct 1st, 2005 at 09:47 AM.

Well I know, but the Digistar is flat screen and the Sanyo is the old regular, bubble type screen. Decisions, decisions.....
Also, now that I'm double checking I'm not even sure I CAN go with the Digistar--it's only a 27" TV and I have a 32" cabinet but apparently the speakers come on the SIDE of it and it might be just a smidge over my cabinet size (which is 32 and a 1/2 inches in width) damn!
Also, the flat screen TV's weigh almost double the regular bubble typ screen sizes--anybody know why??? The Sanyo is about 54lbs and the Digistar is about 100lbs--another more expensive flatscreen was about 100lbs too. I just wondered why it was that they weighed so much more.

Go with the sanyo...Probably a better warranty.
Digistar is probably like Orbitron, Apex etc where they only offer one year warrantys_______________
GO LEAFS GO!!!!!

They also have a Toshiba 27" Flat Screen at Superstore for $229. Think this would be better? It's only $30 more than the others and Toshiba is a good brand name isn't it?

If you have the cash, think longer term. Toshiba is a better brand. If the picture is equal or better, go with it. My only caveat is Superstore. If you have a Visions nearby they will beat the price by 5% (i.e. $12). Other authorized dealers are simply easier to deal with than Superstore.
I think Costco currently has a Samsung flat CRT around the same price. Quoting a clerk there where I just bought an LCD TV; "keep your receipt and box contents, if there is ever a problem, bring it back." This is one major reason I spend so much money there, unbelievable service.

Thanks, so Superstore is hard to deal with? I live in the middle of nowhere so I don't have a whole lot of options. No Visions, no Costco, we do have a Zellers and a Muntz Audio--maybe I'll check there.
So maybe in the long run (if I can't find anything at Zellers or elsewhere) I would be better off getting something at Walmart--even if it's not the Sanyo or the Digistar then getting the Toshiba at the Superstore.
