As the title says I'm looking for an mp3 player.
something $150 or less. So that pretty much eliminates any hard drive based MP3 Players.
My problem is that the market is riddled with so many flash mp3 players.
Key Features I am Looking for:
*Minimum 128MB internal memory
*Expandable Memory (preferably MMC/SD Flash Cards)
*LCD Display Screen (so I know what song is playing)
Let me know any suggestions you may have.
Thanks!![]()

If you're not squeamish about ordering a refurb item, or ordering from the US, CompGeeks has a Rio Nitrus 1.5 GB player. It should come to about $160 (max) all in with shipping etc.

it seems everyone is recommending hard drive based MP3's...and looking at the prices, I think i may as well spend the few extra dollars for a whole lot more memory than I will ever get with flash based.
the RIO looks nice, however I would prefer to order online, within Canada, makes it cheaper to return in case of a problem.
Those Lyra's look good. but XSCargo, can be sketchy sometimes...especially with their cordless phones, (once had to exchange 3 times before I got a good one.) I also believe they do not have an return policy only exchanges.
that PD looks very promising in terms of features, but they are very new, I have only seen them since Dec '04. So I will be a little cautious.
Anyways thanks for the reply's...
Good Deals, but I will just wait a bit more.

Jan 13th, 2005 07:06 AM #12actually I researched this MP3 and I found out the SD/MMC Expansion slot only supported 32, 64 and 128MB!!! (AS STATED IN THE MANUAL)

Not enough for me. (would mean that I would have to change songs daily.)
so I think i'm leaning towards the RIO 1.5GB again.
Rio Nitrus 1.5GB MP3 Player more info $179
at Canada Computers, Not a Bad Price $249+ at FS and BB

I got a Nex IIe by Frontier Labs. It reads CF cards and has no internal memory.
I enver seen it sold in stores in Toronto. I got it second hand for 85 bucks. I think retail shouldn't cost too mcuh more than that.
The great part about this player is that it supports up to 1GB of flash.
I first got a 256 mb and now I got a 1 GB card in it. It reads mp3 and wma files. It is very nice to easy. Simple in design. Not too user freindly (not as much as iPod). It uses 2 double AA batteries.
Overall, i like it. I use it as a portable storage device and as a mp3 player.
One thing i would recommend for your mp3 player. Make sure u get at least 512 mb. Even with 256 mb i have trouble with the limited space.

yeah I kind of thought of that also.
What it lacks aesthetically it makes up with functionality Though.
