Help! Mystery cell charge from #2030

Hi there!

I'm not sure how I should proceed. I received a charge of 4.99 on my last cell phone bill for a call made to #2030, a call I have no recollection of making. My bill indicates that I made this call at the same time as a call to 1 866 767 3771.

I called my provider Fido, and asked them to tell me who made these charges. They tell me that they don't know/can't tell where the charges came from, but assisted me in blocking further third party charges on my phone.

Has this happened to anyone else? How can I report it? The rep told me to search for #2030 on the internet to find out which company it is, but I can't find anything....

I've recently received the same 4.99 charge '#2030' on Feb 25th but after calling a different 1 866 number - my Fido rep said that the charges were for 'instagram/twitter' use. There's no history of me making that call. I'm in BC, Canada and am using a Samsung Galaxy S running CyanogenMod and am thinking the the mod is maybe to blame. Are you also using CyanogenMod?

called Fido and got credit. The 2030 for example stands for a something like a vote by phone for a contest on TV. I claim somebody try to rip off people with a bad 1800 number.

Just saw this come up on my Bell bill. Can confirm this is not Android specific as I have an iPhone.

Im with Rogers and see this same charge. I did attempt to call CIBC 1866 number before I got this charge ... I dialed 1866 but the number was actually 1888 ... and i bw .. I got this 4.99 charge. Looks like this charge is targeting people that dial the wrong 1800 numbers??

Another Robellus cash grab... think about it... they can't tell you what the hell they are billing you for? And they send you to Google to get your answers while billing you for it?

I have called numerous 1-800 and 1-866 numbers on my WIND phone this month and never gotten this $4.99 charge.

I noticed on my Rogers bill the same $4.99 charge for calling #2030. Called Rogers, the first lady I spoke to said it was from voting for a TV show. I told her that was ridiculous because I only watch Netflix since I don't have cable. She said there's nothing she could do about. I hung up.. Called again and got a guy and he said he would reverse the charge for me this one time. I haven't checked my phone records, but it is possible that I could have dialed the same 1-800 or 1-866 number as you guys.

I also was charged $4.99 for the same call... #2030. I called my service provider and the said it was something to do with "Counterfeit Money Detection" or "Multimedia Reproduction". They removed the charges for me. The call was 15 minutes in length. I too was asked to search the number, but search came up empty... I will try to do some research on this number. If you have any luck could you please post and let me know. Thank-you!
