I don't post here that often, but am in need of some advice, preferably legal advice. So here's the scoop:
I purchase an '06 Civic SI from Oakville Honda back in March. On the Vehicle Purchase Agreement, that both myself and an authorized sales rep signed for, the final price of the vehicle was $29307.10. That's the price after all taxes (GST, PST, A/C, and Fuel Consumption), minus $1000 deposit, and minus Freight, which for some reason is marked as having a price of N/A. I didn't question the sales rep about it, I just accepted it as how it was.
Upon arrival of the car last week, Oakville Honda demanded that I pay an extra $1225 + tax to cover the cost of the Freight. However, the Vehicle Purchase Agreement does not have that cost and differs from the original agreement. I understand that this document is a legally binding document and that Oakville Honda has to honour the price. Is this correct? And, what kind of action can I take to ensure that Oakville Honda abides to the agreement?
Any help or input in this matter would be greater appreciated.

Not alot you can do.If there was a price of $1 then maybe. But n/a means the price was not set at that time. You should have asked but still.

I take N/A to read as Not Applicable, in other words, no freight charges.
How could they come up with a final price is the freight charges were Not Available?
Try this site out, I know AB has one and its Unfair Practices that protects consumers.

I'm with Sportsfan on my take.. if it had a line through it, or $0 or anything, that would hold all the water... but N/A is going to be a battle.
Not saying you can't prevail, but I just don't know how._______________

Another thing I noticed: I got free lock nuts thrown in as part of my "deal". I know what you're thinking...that I got $20 off, which is not even close to a deal.
Anyways, on the Vehicle Purchase Agreement, those are listed with N/A beside their price. So, from the looks of it, N/A means that the price doesn't apply. And, using the same convention for the Freight, the price doesn't apply either.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Junta for this post.

So did you tell the dealership about your contract, and show them that it says you don't have to pay them for freight/delivery?
If so, what did they say?_______________

My dad helped me out a bit, and talked to the sales manager about the N/A. Apparently, he just told him that they forgot to include it. Which to me, seems like the lamest excuse ever.

Talk to a lawyer. Everyone on the board here can only guess. Find out if any of your friends know any lawyers...its a very simple question which shouldn't require them to charge you for their time.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked najibs for this post.

For over $1225, it is a material mistake. They should at least allow you to back out of the deal. i.e. give you back all the deposite.
What else is N/A in the contract? If every N/A can become $ of their choice after you sign, it does not make sense.Last edited by gman; May 3rd, 2006 at 12:53 AM.

Thanks for the input guys. The matter has been settled and Oakville Honda has finally decided to live up to their mistake. I'll be paying for this vehicle without any freight charges. :) I bet they'll never make that same mistake again.
