Help needed: choosing the correct DVI-I/VGA/HDMI adapter

After trying to understand the intricate relationships between the different types of adapters available, I ended up horribly confused and lost. My main problem rests with understanding the importance of the 'male and female' system. So I'm just going to ask the internet.

I'm picking up a new video card with DVI-I connections.
There are two things i would like to do:
1. connect the video card to to my VGA (CRT, ugh i know) monitor.
2. connect the video card to my LCD TV (HDMI).

Please tell me what do i need.

Most video cards comes with at least 1 dvi to VGA adaptor (double check then one you going to buy and see if it comes with or not) If so, problem 1 solved

If it's an ATI card, they have their own special/custom DVI to HDMI adaptor that passes audio. If you use a regular one, it won't pass the audio signal, and you'll have to use another cable (most likely a stereo 3.5mm to red/white RCA) from soundcard to TV.

Don't know where you can get the ATI adaptor (asides from ATI, which costs $$$ for shipping).

thanks for the reply. That helped a lot. My card did come with its own adapter, but i'll be picking one up for the HDMI later.
