Help w MAcBook Pro and Refurbed MacBook
Hi guys,
I need your tech expertise.
I'm looking at a Refurbed Mac and the new MacBook Pro.
The Refurbed Mac looks like it's better and cheaper... am I missing something?

Thanks!

The new SD card reader? I personally do like them and added one as a 3/4 card.
It's also likely an older generation model. The changes might be minor, but less re-sale value.
There are no more Mac Books now, it's been renamed to Pro.
I had bought a refurb from Apple and it still had problems. I did not have any problems sending it back, but it was a hassle just the same.
Ended up getting a new one.
The new model for that refurb version was MB467LL/A in case you want to look it up.
Might want to read:

OP, what are you planning on doing and running on a new laptop?
And I'd definitely get the 13-incher if I was only doing basic stuff such as email and websurfing.

Reason: Edited to correct my own ignorance.

What do you mean it's better and cheaper?
1.) The refurb you linked to is actually the higher model of the former 13" MacBook aluminum. You should be comparing it to the $1,749.00 13" MacBook Pro.
2.) Refurbs from Apple always cost less. It's the nature of any product being a refurb.
3.) The new MacBook that you linked to, comes with 4GB RAM, an SD card reader, longer battery life and a better screen (this isn't listed in the specs, but it's still the case).

I was actuallycomparing thre refurbed to the cheaper MacBook Pro (2.26 GHz and 2GB)
So far, what I understand is:
Refurbed $1249
Pro: Faster (2.4GHz), cheaper,
Cons: Refurbed, older model, memory upgradeable to 4G
New MBP $1399
Pro: Newer, SD card, memory upgradeable to 8G
Cons: More expesnive, slower (2.26GHz)
Do you know if the refurbed model comes with backlit keyboard?
Otherwise it looks practically the same...
I just need a laptop to watch movies and surf the internet in bed. I don't really "need" a laptop since I already have a kickass gaming desktop. I also never had a Mac before, thought I'd branch out.
Thanks for the help.

13” MBP is $1299 after the Education discount. Plus you get a free 8GB iPod Touch and printer.
The new 13” MBP has a faster processor, SD card slot, firewire, a wayyyy better screen, wayyyy better battery life, backlit keyboard is standard, and the resale value will be higher.
The 13” uMB got smoked.
