That's because you're (very likely) behind a router which you did not do port forwarding.

You don't have Windows XP do you??? You may have inadvertantly switched on the Win XP software firewall.
Don't think Rogers is blocking ports but who knows. It maybe your ISP that's blocking a range of ports (easy way for them to kill of file sharing)._______________

Emule/Overnet by it's very nature is slow. I would recommend Shareaza for your file search.
The last time I absolutely needed a file off Overnet it took like a full week to get.
Bit Torrent much better.

Hmm...I'm having the same problems with emule, can't get a high id. I think it's Rogers, I've tried different ports and sometimes I will get one that works. Also sometimes I will be on a port and everything will be fine, but when I reboot and connect again I get a low id.

There are different reasons for not getting a high id and using firewall or router is one of them. Other reasons include connecting and disconnecting often, low file share count, setting the upload speed too low.

Apr 3rd, 2005 10:40 PM #13I think it's my port/Rogers cause I always get the "Your XXXX port is not reachable. Please review your network config."

Out west so I don't know much about Rogers, but it could be traffic shaping going on. Googled this:
