Higher end video card deals?

I was hoping to grab a good upgrade for my video card but I'm having trouble finding the great deals I expected. 500$ price point is already pushing it, closer to 400$ would be best but there's a little wiggle room. Using a 1440p monitor so I'm not even considering cards with less than 3GB memory.

I'm a bit put off by the R9 290's heat/noise, waiting for aftermarket cooling would be an option. So mostly I've been browsing the black friday deals for 780gtx. The TIs are outside the price range. Best I've found so far is this; MSI GTX 780 OC with a great cooler for 460$ and three games bundled in, at NCIX, with MIR. Anyone has seen better in the price range?

I'm tempted but not overwhelmed. Is it likely that we see better deals on decent video cards by Cyber Monday? Is boxing day usually better, or even the dead season after the holidays? I'm not in a super hurry.

280x is too 'new' to be heavily discounted. Better off looking for a deal on a 7950 or 7970.

I only Buy Asus Brand GPU

Too Bad Asus 7950 is a three slot video card also the 7970 has a three slot

Unlike the Asus R9-280X that has just two slot

Then watercool them and make them one slot. Only buying one GPU manufacturer is kind of pointless though I find.

I still have it in my cart. If nothing better comes out of Cyber Monday I'll order it before going to bed. Kinda cutting it close with the MIR, but I always temper my expectations with those anyway.

Also I would like to add that if you buy a specific r9 290 for $400 it will unlock to the 290x. Problem is finding the right one. I know powercolor has a pretty good chance but I know OCN has a pretty extensive thread on it.

It was a b-com special at $230 earlier in November. Good luck finding that pricing again anytime soon.

The best bet for 1440p+ is a R9 290 with custom cooler (either buy your own liquid cooler or wait a few weeks for manufacturers to slap on their own custom coolers). By the time they come out, it will probably be close enough to boxing day to either see them discounted or find a deal on something else, since high-end GPUs do seem to be featured in sales as much as low- or mid-range cards.

i failed to check the ltc price when I bought it from newegg, otherwise i'd get the limit of 5, plus few other orders of 5 to my parents address. no matter, still mining btc using asic. next sale you can bet it will be a big order, maybe just buy out their stock.
