Ontario has no-fault insurance, which means no matter who's at fault each driver only deals with his/her own insurance for compensation. I would say there's no need to report to your insurance company as they won't pay for anything anyway. Just advice, don't blame on me if something happens.

i don't think no fault is the reason for high insurance premiums. i think it's statistics. it's the increasing frequency and severity of accidents.
prior to no-fault, if you were at fault, your insurance company would just pay for the other party's damages, as well as, your's. that would actually cost your insurance company more.
however, if you weren't at fault, the other party's insurance company would pay for your damages, as well as, their's.
in the end it's a wash, insurance companies are "considered" to break even from this standpoint, so you deal with your own company. all that does is it allows you to get your car fixed and paid for much quicker than if you had to deal with the other party's company if you're not at fault.
to the OP, if you don't report the accident, and down the road, the other party sues you, you will be in a very bad position because you did not bother reporting the accident. by law you are required to report all accidents to the insurance company whether you are making a claim or not. in the end, the decision is up to you.

Your insurance company will be contacted by the other persons company. That is a guarantee. You may have to pay for items such as road clean up, if any emergency vehicles were called out etc. your company may have to pay for some of the damage or ancillary charges surrounding the incident.
This happened to my Son, no damage to his car but the other car hit a rail and spilled fluid. The Police said it was his error that caused the accident and he got dinged several months later for the clean up. He got a increase in insurance and was told by the company that he did not report it so he is on "probation" with the company. Sounds dumb but it happened.
Know this, all insurance companies are tied together. They all know the same things about you. You can't quit one thinking you get a fresh start with another.
Advise - report it.

Just wondering why it is you think the ticket is "unnecessary". It sounds like you may have caused an accident (through an improper lane change) and now you think the ticket isn't necessary?
That would be typical of the driver who thinks they should just do whatever they want and who cares about anyone else (which is the unfortunate majority it seems).
If that's not the case, could you at least describe the accident better so we can get an idea of what happened. Saying "I got in an accident and got a ticket for" just makes it sound like you caused an accident.
What happened to the other car involved in the accident? Were there damages? Also what do you mean by "the other driver had templates on", what does that mean? Why are they "covered by the province", did you hit a police car?

sorry to update after a while but the incident was that it was dark at night i was changing lanes.. this dodge shadow i hit (black colour) had no rear lights or anything on, so he was hiddent behind a suv while changing lanes and due to his light not being on i could not see him till ym front light shun on him .. therefore the accident happend i dont think i deserve the ticket because the lan change was safe but if his lights were on then maybe it wouldnt have happend wen your on the road you have to let people know your their..
But as for a progress, the person i hit is now filing a lawsuit for injuries and wants to be compensated in such situations what do i do?? should i hire a lawyer or let the insuracne company deal with it??_______________

Don't hire a lawyer on your own. What you need to do is contact your insurance company. Your insurer will hire a lawyer on your behalf to represent you and the lawyer hired by your insurer will defend you (to the limits of your policy).
Just curious as to what the amount of damages is that they're asking for? However, make sure to contact your insurer right away and they'll handle this for you.

QFT.
Had a woman file a small claims court suit on me, since I had reported the accident. I just handed insurance company the notice and they took care of it.
Here's what you do:
Call your insurance company
Report accident
Do not file a claim (this usually dings your insurance more)
Sit back and let your insurance company deal with the rest.

My broker told me once that it's not legal to leave the light off after the night falls or something like that. If you can find a witness or get your insurance company to check the other truck's rear lighting system (in case it's not working) then you are not at fault.
Sometimes I just hate ppl don't turn on the light in the night especially on 401. What's the cost to save a light bulb. Don't tell me that they forgot to turn it on. Should notice it right away that the dash is dark._______________
