I hear the New York Rangers has a DVD box set of their 1994 Stanley Cup run. The set has their series against the Devils, which contains the famous guaranteed win by Messier in game 6, and the entire 7 game series against the Vancouver Canucks in the Finals. Arguably some of the most exciting playoff hockey in the last 15 years. I'm going to pick this up if I ever see it on sale, but I prefer the Canucks perspective since the Canucks also went 7 games against the Flames that same year, and also a series against the Leafs in the third round.

Hockey DVD's
Does anyone know any cool hockey dvd's I can give as a gift for a hockey fan?
The person already has the Richard movie and Hockey: A People's History. I was wondering if there are any other cool hockey dvd's out there? I know he wouldn't be interested in the Gretzky DVD or The Legends of Hockey ones (they're kind of boring) are there any other good ones out there? He likes old time hockey, and is a big Habs fan.
There are a bunch of DVD's with Canada versus Russia but there are so many and I don't know which ones are the good ones they seem kind of confusing. I see a couple that are on the same year and don't know which ones are the best.
Any help would be great, thanks.

There's the 1972 Summit Series, which I found to be as boring as hell. However, there was a documentary made from that series, which I think would be better. It's a three-disc set that comes in a red steelbook (tin) case.

There's the Men's/Women's 2002 Olympic Gold Medal games. It comes in a flimsy cardboard box, with poster and CD jewel case inside.

Less exciting is the Men's 2004 World Cup of Hockey gold medal game.
Hmm, worth checking out CBC's shop. They've got some stuff there that I've didn't even know was available
, like the 1987 Canada Cup (Gretzky to Lemieux).

There's an uncut version and a broadcast version in the 3 disc set of the 1972 Summit Series I wonder why they're seperate discs instead of both being in the same disc.
Did anyone ever watch this? Is it any good it sounds interesting.
Rabbit, I think this is the series of the actual games that you found boring? http://www.amazon.ca/Canadas-Team-Ce...4283468&sr=1-2
Last year I think they released a Canada-Russia box-set from 1 year, does anyone know if that one is any good too?
This documentary looks kind of good too, http://www.sportsposterwarehouse.com...worth95dvd.htmLast edited by VenomZeus; Mar 19th, 2007 at 02:00 AM.

Yep, that's the one. I know it was exciting at the time, but the hockey being played and the commentating doesn't seem that great when compared to 2007 standards. The series doesn't have the same impact when the world has changed. Mind you, everyone at Amazon is giving it 4 or 5 stars, so what do I know?
