Home Depot - Poulan Pro Chainsaws - $99 ($74 after coupon!!!)
Picked up a Poulan Pro Chainsaw tonight at Home Depot in Edmonton.
Saw a demo on clearance for $99 at the Edmonton west store, called around and found new in box at the Westmount location. Many of the other edmonton stores had new in box as well.
There is actually 2 different models on clearance:
PP4218AVX
http://www.weedeater.com/poulanpro/v...erModelID=null
42cc, 18" bar, Bonus Carrying Case and Extra Chain, 3.2oz Oil
PP3516AVX
http://www.weedeater.com/poulanpro/v...erModelID=null
35cc, 16" bar, 3.2oz Oil
Both models scan at $99.00, regular priced at $259.00 and $229.00 respectively.
With the current $25 coupon this weekend, the cost is $74.00 plus taxes.
Amazing deal for these chainsaws...

Hummm....
I can't seem to think of a chainsaw without this popping into my head.

Great deal, wish I needed a chainsaw for something.

Great price on this medium-duty saw. Frankly, unless you own a bush lot, either should be more than enough saw for most people.

Is this YMMV? I called the Peterborough, Ontario store and they are on clearance but for 25% off the original price. So its $194.25 ($259-25%) before the coupon.
Far cry from the nice deal out West!
EDIT: Item must be scanned in because shelf price is incorrect. I called another Home Depot and the guy in Seasonal mentioned that they were just reduced in price. I asked what they were scanning at. He checked it and outloud said "Holy sh*t....$99!". I ran down to my nearest store and sure enough the one I called earlier today, once scanned in show up as $99. I was then able to apply the $25 off coupon...nice.
Thanks OP for the heads-up. This will definitely come in handy as I have to clean up the mess that Hydro made recently when they decided to clear cut around the lines on my property.

I picked up the last 16" at my location. When I called on the phone, a man was there buying the 18" and when he heard the sales lady talking to me on the phone he told his wife to grab the other/last 18" too(greedy bugger). So I only got the 16", but still a great deal, I needed a chainsaw!
Thanks for the tip!

Picked one up this morning for $99.00. But can't seem to find the $25.00 coupon anywhere and the staff at Home Depot had not heard of it. Where can I find a coupon?

Coupon is on the www.homedepot.ca website, go to eflyer tab, and open the link for the New Mover Winter Guide 2008 and go the page 30.
The print quality isn't great, and they questioned me in store where I got it, so I got them to surf to that site at customer service. No problems then...

And I wouldn't bother calling. The Westmount store I went to still had the regular price tags up, so the staff probably quoted you the price on the tag and nothing more...

Any 18" hoarders here? Lurkers?

I recommend not buying the tool-less chain tensioning system chainsaws. I have a PP4620AVX (20" refurbished from XS Cargo) and it does not hold tension for very long. It seems to need tensioning after every 10 cuts.
I also have a Canadian made Pioneer P25.

confirmed in Ottawa (Barrhaven), both models ring it at $99, despite a yellow 'clearance' price tag on the shelf reading $189
Thanks OP. Can't wait to try this big boy out ! I think I'll be looking for things to chainsaw...

Yup. I'm planning on trying it out in a few weeks at the lakelot. We had a couple of trees come down in the yard including one that took down the main powerline to the cabin.
Hydro company fixed the line, but just left the tree to the side without moving it. At least it didn't fall on my trailer...
I got mine out of the box about 30 minutes ago. Jokingly asked my wife if she minded if I started it up inside.
Retensioning is very common with these models after 5 to 10 uses. The difference is it takes 5 minutes or less to do. This is really true for the first couple of hours of use. The chain relaxes and stretches as much as 5% from it's unused new size.

Thanks OP, got one of the 18" models at the HD on MacLeod Tr, Calgary. It seemed to be the last of that type, but 3 of the 16" version on the shelf as of an hour ago. The cashier convinced me to fill out a HD card application to get an additonal $25 off (on top of the $25 off promotion covered here), but it turned out that you can only apply one discount per transaction. Nevertheless, an outstanding dealio at $74.
