[Home Depot] Scott's turf builder fertilizer, $9.97

Lowest price I have seen for this fertilizer. Regular price is a bit inflated, Walmart sells it for about $13, but this is still cheaper. Can be used in the spring/summer. Covers 400m.

If you did not use Lowes's sale price couple weeks ago to price match HD to get extra10% off, your have another chance to get the cheap fertilizer by PM Lowes using HD price.

Is this what I should use after over seeding my lawn so the birds don't eat the grass seeds?

Dethatch to expose the soil. You're wasting your time if the seeds aren't touching any soil.

Is right now about time to seed and use this fertilizer or is it still to cold? Was reading something about grass as a cool weather plant.

I was chatting with a Scott's guy at home depot. He was super helpful. He advised to wait until temps stay above 10, including at night. I'm probably going to try this fertilizer plus their all in one 911 seed mix. Will it work? I don't know. My lawn isn't too bad but it's getting a bit patchy

1. dethatch lawn
2. Spread seed over lawn
3. Spread fertilizer over lawn
4. Spread gardening top soil over the lawn
5. Drag the back side of a rake over the lawn to mix them and spread them evening over the lawn.
6. Water everyday to ensure the seeds will germinate.

When should the first application of fertilizer happen? In BC coastal area the grass has a natural spring growth spurt and seems OK until about mid June, and that’s about when I spread the fertilizer first time, but maybe I should put it on earlier for better grass health. It gets really dry here in July-August and watering restrictions mean we sometimes must let the lawn dry out and turn yellow (it comes back with fall rain).

Mowed grass twice already.

I wouldn't spread fertilizer during the start of and during the hot summer. Stresses out the grass. Put this in the early or late spring. Maybe even early fall. Just put water in the middle of the hot summer.

Is this a good deal based on historic pricing?
Already picked up 1 bag, and added to the lawn before today’s Gta rain day,
Looking for more for ongoing maintenance.
