It's actually not that funny...plenty of craft sales have been told to register, charge GST and pay up on their 'income'. Why should this be any different!!??

I think it is ridiculous that he's trying to charge for something. He's not providing a service or a product so I'm not sure what he's charging for. He's not charging an 'entry' fee since the person was not on his property.

well if he has a sign...likely he's getting some much traffic that as a homeowner, I too would be ticked with ppl coming on to his property

Taking a picture of his home from public property (ie, the road) is fair game. Taking a picture of a part of his home where you might be invading his provacy (ie, his back yard or living room) not so much.

To be honest, I don't see the problem with him asking for money though. If he has a beautiful home and wouldn't mind being compensated for people taking pictures of it that's up to him. Just because it's legal to point a camera at his property don't mean you shouldn't have any respect for the fact it's HIS PROPERTY.

Either pay the guy, or go and find any number or other nice examples of fall colors and take pictures there instead.

No, and you people are missing the other possible point in this which is to discourage people from parking in front of the guy's property, creating traffic outside his house, littering in the area, stomping all over his grass and having perverts peer into his home. And has been said here a few times. As long as you dont step foot on his property he cant enforce any type of fee.
