i think it's a good price. labour for a 2001 civic timing belt and waterpump is 4.5h + 1.0h for seals. If your doing the timing belt you might as well change the seals, your in there already.
Many small shop can do it for around 400. just be careful who you go to.

water pumps are about $35 at canadian tire. most of what you are paying is labour. if you can get a hair cut for $10 does it make sense to pay someone $100 buck an hour to do something as basic as replace a water pump? you are really paying $90 for the stigma of the guy being a mechanic and $10 for the actually skill required.

Try giving Ready Honda in Mississauga a call. They did my '94 civic for 260 ish plus tax. That was about 6 years ago but the price couldn't be beat.
That included the timing belt and water pump. Even the local shops were asking for at least 400...not sure why it was so cheap at Ready but the car did last till 385,000 km! (traded it in at that point, timing belt was still ok )
