Thats a bargain. Similar powertrain to the rsx-s for $7k less.

the sentra SER specV comes near, but it is fatter than the civic in every single way.Last edited by oldsnail; Dec 4th, 2005 at 03:49 PM.

Dec 4th, 2005 04:13 PM #6Same hp as the RSX-S, plus a limited slip diff. Something the RSX sorely needs.

Discontinued SRT-4 would rape the Civic. Too bad they don't make it anymore.

SRT4 sales is such a joke, they cant manage to sell it due to low reliability.
To add to the topic, remember its drive by wire so the slower reponse from the gas penal. It doesnt matter if it has 197HP. Search for their 0-100KM time and quarter mile time. You will be disappointed. Moreover, you can the from the engine bay, there is no space for mods. It would be damn hard to make a race header for it, yes you can make one but not efficient enough. ECU tunning is also limited, not using wide-band 02 sensor is a mistake.
Only thing i like is LSD but again, its drive by wire. There is no point if there is a delay.

SRT4 does exactly what it was designed to do. Haul ass on the cheap. Now, that is a very, very, very niche market and that's why the sales are low. Overall, there are much better balanced cars for the price, but in terms of pure speed, there's nothing that can touch it at that price.

However, the base model RSX might lose some sales to the new Civic since at the same price point, the Civic Si beats the pants off the RSX._______________

Technically they could modify the ECU to enhance the TBW car to be quicker than a similar non-TBW vehicle. Renntech & Kleeman has done this for several Mercedes. Premise being the opposite of the panic stop braking system; where a quick lift off the the brake pedal will launch the car perfectly.

I wouldn't buy/drive a Civic but it's a nice car for it's segment.

It's so specific that it basically amounts to:
"can u think of any other civic si at this price range?"
If you're not being rhetorical and are looking for a similar or better car in terms of price/performance. Then you got the SRT-4 (well maybe not the gas mileage, hahah)._______________

That's not bad considering I had a 2002 SIR which had an MSRP of 25,500
this new car has a better I-vtec engine, LSD and lots of other upgrades like 17" Rims...
It's around the same performance as an RSX-S but for alot less $$$...
It'd consider it but it's too expensive.
I'll stick with my $6500 integra GSR for now....
