Yup, it's a 1-2 dirty sucker punch to Canadian consumers. They hope to deter the consumers from importing the US vehicles and offer a 'small' incentive to trick you into thinking they care about the pricing differences.
Don't be fooled. So what if you can't drive that Accord or Camry? Buy a different car from a manufacturer that won't hinder you from purchasing in the US and will honor the full warranty.
Subaru Legacy, Ford Fusion, and Hyundai Sonata comes to mind and heck it'll stand out from all the boring Accords and Camry's out there._______________

Is this cash rebate still available? There is no mention of it on their website, just the lower financing rates.
In the Vancouver Sun 2008 Automotive Preview (Nov 21, 2008), they are advertising a $1000 gift card (til the end of Nov) with any new Accord purchase or lease. No mention of the cash rebate. I suppose that the $1000 is available to anyone and the extra $2000 or $4000, depending on trim level, is only available to cash buyers?_______________

do you know if the cash discount is applied after or before tax?
There is also an additional $1000 after tax discount on 4 cylinder models (regardless of cash or financing options).Accords 4cyl - $2000
Both models get a maximum $134 GST credit (to make up for the 1% cut in Jan) on both 4 and v6 models.
For previous Honda owners there is a 1% loyalty discount._______________

you'll get 1% credit on the total purchase price. i.e. (MSRP - $4000 - dealer discount + $1390 PDI & Freight + $100 air cond tax + $75 gas tax) x 0.01
My got a fair deal. $1000 over invoice.Last edited by bst; Nov 24th, 2007 at 11:06 PM.

The $1000 after tax rebate is for the 4cylinders models.
It's true what he said about the price gap:
EX 4 - $28,690 msrp - $2k = $26,690 (+taxes etc)
EX 6 - $31,690 msrp - $4k = $27,690 (+taxes etc)
though keep in mind that after taxes you'll get that additional $1k off of the 4.
"So if I add up your totals and take 1%, do they just give that amount back to you separately or do i deduct that from the sub-total prior to adding the GST/PST?

Hey different question for you. Any concerns about the long term reliability of the VCM? The added complexity it introduces makes me wonder what will happen 5+ years down the road._______________

This credit is applied after applying the taxes (current 14% tax), just before "Total Due on Delivery" on the Bill of Sale. This credit will equal to as if you're paying 13% tax.
I'm not sure about the reliability of the VCM but hopefully Honda won't screw up its biggest selling car in NA. However, I'm planning to trade-in in about 5 years time. So, that's not a really big concern for me. BTW, the V6 is much more powerful than the I4.Last edited by bst; Nov 25th, 2007 at 10:43 AM.

Well..I should say the I4 is under-powered for a car this size.

Guys, any idea how much a 2008 Civic LX Sedan Auto can be had for OTR?
Also, what kind of incentives ($1500 off for cash deals, any gas cards or any other discounts) that are currently on right now? What about Finance rates? Is it 1.9% up to 36 months?
Thanks

MSRP for Civic LX w/auto is 22180. The invoice price is 20627. 700 over the price would be a good deal, if not great. If you pay in cash, you would qulify for $1500 discount. Their finance rate is 0.9% for 2-3 years, and 2.9% for 4 years. I am not sure whether minus one percent as a loyalty discount would be applied as for an Accord. I would say just over 25K.
On second thought, it's quite expensive car considering its size. If you spend roughly 5K more, you can get an Accord.Last edited by bkim3; Nov 26th, 2007 at 09:21 PM.
