anyone know anything about a place called S.M. Taxi Repair at 296 Brock St.? When I drove by this morning to see what the place was, the sign says "S.M. Auto Repair" and I saw a few vehicles there (both cabs and non-cabs). However, when I tried to google the place, the "taxi repair" name came up instead.
Here is my story:

Wheny gfs car got hit in December, cops said they were on the way (traffic was blocked and her car was not in a state to drive (not safely anyways). I called CAA and said they would be 40 minutes, 30 minutes after that call i called the cops back who weren't there yet and they said they weren't coming
. I walked about 5 mins to where I parked and the gf came and said they were taking it to the collision centre. I guess she wasn't paying attention cause when we got there it was not CAA.
She even got a rental there right away at the collision centre. I thought to myself this has scam written all over it but I pulled the guy to the side and told him to explain what is happening. He said he works with a body shop about 5 minutes from my house and explained how insurance would cover the repairs, rental and everything.
I told the guy straight out, if he tries to scam my gf in anyway that he will not get a single penny for everything and that his towing company and body shops name would be put all online and that he'd see other victims come out. He laughed (jokingly) and told me that he doesn't run his business like that because as he said, it only takes one bad experience to ruin a business like his.
In the end, they had the car for 2 weeks, it came back perfect, like brand new and my gf had no bills or sketchiness (other than the fact her rental was a corolla). I didn't know why everyone hated on it so much until then. What a horrible piece of crap that car was, even worse, my BMW got better gas mileage than that car did (not sure how) and it looked so cheap on the inside). The only positive it had for it is that it was not beige lol. I told her about how all of RfD hates on corollas and she said she can understand why hahaha.Last edited by XtremeModder; Feb 10th, 2012 at 07:34 AM.

Dont forget that a lot of tow truck operators (especially in the GTA) do drive aggressively when responding to accident scenes and its highly unpredicatable what they'll do next.
If you're ever in an unfortunate situation like an accident, you as a motorist have the right to:
1) Decide which tow truck company you want. Dont always select the first one.
2) Decide where you want the vehicle to be towed to. Dont fall for the tow truck driver's selection as there maybe a conflict-of-interest.
3) Get any costs down in writing.
As previous posters have stated, once the tow truck has been "hooked" up, you're liable for any charges
