D Cell .. aren't those the big old expensive batteries? Funny the flashlight doesn't look so big in the pics.
I'm thinking of getting another one that takes AA batteries. Like this :

LED are the super bright ones as i recall. Should be better quality than those cheapo ones on eBay and that other HK site i forgot the name of.

In a pinch the 3D size makes a great club. Have one in each car.

Mag is *the* leading brand for higher-end flashlights (police, security, etc...)
The cool thing is that this is their first LED model, 3watt, able to focus.
The LED *conversion kit* alone (to add to your existing non-LED Mag) runs $20 by itself.
Fact it runs on D batteries mute point--1.5 volt output (same as AA) but last much longer than AA--particularily with LED).
I picked one up as they don't go on sale that often.

Mag is not the leading brand for higher-end flashlights. They are absolutely horrible - strictly consumer-grade. The only thing they are good for is striking; however, the 'cons' of carrying an enormous 4lb. flashlight far outweigh the 'pro' of being able to whack someone with it.

I know the Toronto Police Dept use the mag light (have friends in the force).
I prefer the Inova T series of lights as their build quality is better

This is a 3W Luxeon LED, not your typical garbage 9-20 LED flashlights.
I bought the 3D for security reasons as well, and it should last much longer than the 2D, and 2AA.

Its on sale again this week. (Dec 9th to the 16th)
I picked up the 3W 2-AA Maglite, and holly molly, this thing is BRIGHT! I have an older 1W Luxeon 4-AA light, and this is MUCH MUCH brighter.
