According to the news, laser printers can harm your health.

Because of the particles or dust released during the printing process that go into your lungs. As bad as smoking.

Hot Deal on Color Laser Printer +Free Shipping
Hey guys,
Directdial has a promotion on a Lexmark C534DN, reg. ~$1100 on for $499.
Also if you talk to Daniel @ x229 he has agreed to offer free shipping to anyone that tells him Darren sent you.
(I get nothing out of this; I buy a lot of stuff through work from them so my rep has agreed to this deal.)
Let me know how it works out for everyone.
Linky: http://www.directdial.com/34A0192.html
Also if you have never purchased anything from DirectDial take a look around; I think you will find pricing to be very reasonable.

... and?
There are about 1,000,000,000 things in this world that we live with every day that cause irritation/illness. Why do people act like it's news every time to discover a new one? Aside from the fact that this was news 40 years ago, I'd think the fact that breathing in powdered plastics is bad for you would be obvious.
Despite this, what does this have to do with the sale price on this printer?

You guys are worrying wayyy too much. If those particles do anything to you at all, they will take away the time of your life that you would have to wait for the inkjet printers to print.

cartridge price
just to save you guys some hassle and surprises, and help u decide on whether to get it or not...this is the toner price right from lexmark.ca website...of course u should be able to refill elsewhere or buy no name cartridge (if there are any)...just as a worst case scenario...
C534 Black High Yield Return Program Toner C5240KH $197.10 (8k pages)
C53x Black Return Program Toner Cartridge C5220KS $124.20 (4k pages)
Cyan, Magenta and yellow carries the same price $141.75 for 3k pages...
I didn't do much research on this printer but if u would have to replace all toners @ the same time (just for example), cost will be $550 cdn....+ tax...
might be better to buy a new printer instead...

Lexmark is notorious for their high price of toner. You always have to consider that cost and not just the initial cost of the printer. For that reason alone, I don't plan on owning a Lexmark during my lifetime.

Laser printers always have expensive toners. As long as you get your high return in prints (quality and sheet count-wise), the economics make sense. In other words, that $200 toner will yield 8000 sheets of good quality black prints for roughly $0.03/page.
Colour prints are always more expensive, but compared to inkjet with $20-50 ink carts and far lower yield/cart, the cost/page is still lower with laser.
