Hot deal for existing Rogers Internet customers & Free Wireless N Router!

Im gonna get this deal but i still dont understand what is the reasoning behind it, why would Rogers want you to stop paying the rental fees, the box clearly denotes them not wanting to take that money from you.

Doesnt make sense, do you guys think this modes are throttled for bittorrent or maybe they have something to better keep track of the amount of data downloaded. I dont know, i mean it doesnt make sense from a business point of view.

They want you so much to stop paying fees that they are throwing the router for free, i mean this would be a good deal even without the router.

We can interpret the deal as: you get a free router and $5.00 off your monthly bill. AND you will stick to Rogers because you have your own modem.

Knowing how evil Rogers are, there has to be a catch somewhere for this. They would only give away free $$ when pigs fly.

The product is designed for new customers.... the fact that they are giving it to existing ones it odd!

It's probably easier for them when you buy the modem instead of renting it. There was probably some lost when renting the modem (ppl not returning it etc..) and they lost money.

This way they are buying the modem and the customer will deal with it...

Would really appreciate any input if it's better to spend the $50 and get the 655 or to stick with the 615 for free, as today is the last day the 655 is on sale, and if it is better to pay and upgrade for normal home office use then i'll pay the extra money and pick it up tonight...

In my opinion this is HOT since the 655 has Gigabit, whereas the 615 is just 10/100. I'm going to try to go for the 655 upgrade tonight.

$100 credit = 2 month of internet service... either way, you're spending that $100... no big deal if credit or cash.

Guy confirmed it will work for me, a new customer would get some free months off.

So I went with:

Modem : $99
linksys wrt160N router : $20 upgrade
-----------
total cost $ 135.59 - the $100 rebate

Hope I made the right choice on the router.....

Grabbed one at Yonge/Eglinton..the guy asked if was existing client.

got one just now from eglington and warden FS. They still have some.

I am an existing rogers customer and they still gave me the deal. 100 $ credit is for everyone but the 3 mths free is additional promotion only for new customers to rogers.

Will be calling rogers today and enquire the deal and keep you guys posted.

So...I read a couple of pages of the thread, and it's available for existing customers? Do I have to call Rogers and ask them about this promotion first since it's Rogers.

Also, what would I do with my existing modem?

Thanks OP, just purchased one! There was a sign saying that it was for new or existing customers!

Right now, I am trying to figure out what the catch is! Why would Rogers want to give away free money like this?
