What more detail do you want? Pay $100 now, get modem & router - call to activate new modem and return old one = no more modem rental fees, and $100 back to your rogers account in a form of a credit.
So, Is there a web link to that modem? Don't you have to active their service to get the credit $100. I don't see anything about this on Rogers website. I will call Rogers tomorrow and ask about it.

Rogers definetely has something up their sleeve...why would they give you a $100 modem free AND lose $3 per month on the rental?

This link says the modem is $50, not $100

Is there perhaps some ulterior motive (more throttling, or just plain spying)? Anybody know if George Noory has weighed in on this?
When I jumped on the 7-10 upgrade deal they tried this on me and I had all the modem specs ready to go (which imply that the modem supports up to 30+ mb WAN throughput). They had already told me long ago that my modem would easily support their 10 mb service. I have had a $40 SB5100 off E-Bay since 2003 or 2004. Once I spoke to one of their "engineers", everything was good to go in under 10 minutes.

I am very suspicious too. Perhaps they have a new modem in the works and they want to screw their customers into buying the old ones.
