Hot Deals May Not REALLY BE HOT DEALS (Canada Computers!)
This is at Canada Computers.
I am a student. I bought a pack of memory from Canada Computers earlier in the month (June 19, 2009). Three (3) days after I bought it, they drop the price from $74.99 w/$10 Mail-In-Rebate to $71.99 w/ $20 Mail-In-Rebate. I went to the location I bought it from, and ask that they give me the difference back. They said "Why didn't you come on June 22 when you noticed the price drop?" Well, I had to study for FINAL EXAMS and work part time. So then I went to them today (June 29, 2009), they wouldn't pay the price difference. I also asked for a full refund, but was also rejected (There was nothing mentioning the refund policy on the receipt).
As I was also planning the purchase a few other upgrades such as:
Hitatchi 320 GB Hard Drive
Kingmax 8GB MicroSD Card
Because the Manager was being cheap over $3, he lost over $100 of my business and probably more down the road. So just my $0.02......
Warning to All RFDers! When you notice a price drop at Canada Computers, you got to go right away.

lol
lol, Canada computers doesn't do a price match, especially a retroactive one. If you do a refund, you have to do the 15% restocking fee.

I was suppose to go buy more upgrades for my laptop. Then, when I went to there website to check the prices, I see the price drop.
"I was busy."
That's right. Busy WORKING to pay off those bills for Canada Computers on that pack of memory. I only get $9/ hour as student (16 yrs old). Takes me about 8.5 hours of work just to pay it off (so ~ 2 days). You got to understand that this is a lot for me as a student. Think of it in "my shoes", wouldn't you go and tell them to pay the difference? It's only a week (only 2-3 days after my purchase date) and they lowered the prices by that much (also introducing a new MIR $20 worth??)? So it's not over $3, its a much bigger savings. Myself as a consumer purchase things that are of high quality, but at reasonable (cheap) price.
In addition, consumers should be price protected. Price protected as in "If the prices go down within in certain amount of time, consumers get money BACK."
That's why I am posting in RFD; to warn everyone about it.

computer items fluctuate in price frequently. most computer companies do not offer price protection so why would canada computers. they don't officially offer price protection but there is no way that they would do it 10 days after your purchase.
you should read the policies before buying

I am honestly amazed that time after time people come here complaining these tiny, low-margin computer shops don't offer all the benefits of shopping at Costco or another big-box store. Have none of you ever been to a small computer store before? How exactly do you think they keep their prices so low in face of all the competition from the other stores and the internet?
