HOT!! Kodak Zi8 1080p Camcorder - $138.99
Came across this on Amazon.ca pocket camcorder while searching for Flip Mino HD alternatives...and it's on sale! A fantastic price for a feature packed camcorder!
Last night, the red one was on sale for this price and the black one was for $199 but when I tried this morning, the black one was $138.99 and the red was $199. I ordered before they changed that.
I have not seen a lower price anywhere else. Comes with HDMI, Removable battery, 1080p recording, macro function and external mic port. The 2.5" screen looks great.
If you're in for a pocket camera that records in 1080p, this is one HOT deal! ALso...FREE shipping!!

UPDATE: My Camcorder just shipped!! It is scheduled to arrive on the 11th! The estimated shipping time frame was very wrong.

It looks like an awesome camcorder but if I'm reading the description right it looks like it doesn't come with any memory. Anybody confirm?
10 minutes/GB (at the reduced resolution) could get expensive if you have to buy a card(s)... I'd hate to see how much memory you'd eat at 1080p!
I only do short burst of 5 minutes or less so it might work for me anyways

reviews are mixed.
if video quality is a concern (you only shoot once) then i recommend one with excellent reviews such as canon hf200 or sanyo hd2000. i myself am holding back on spending that much (about $500). tough decision.

It doesn't come with any sd memory. I think it is more 20 min/GB at 1080p. short burst of 5 min. and upload it to youtube, this is pretty good.

Absolutely but that is a whole seperate class of camcorders. Minimum $500 vs $138.99. I posted this deal cuz for the money, it's the best that you can get. If you have any doubts about its quality, head on over to Youtube and check out the 1080p samples...they are stunning!

I can offer some insight into these!
I bought two, one for personal use, one for my production company.
They're definitely bigger than the creative vado hd, and comes with no internal memory (128 mb, like 30 seconds of video). So be prepared to add min $20 bucks for an 8 gb card.
It has really nice shooting modes, 1080p at 30 fps, 720p at 60 fps (which is awesome for concerts, sports, etc), 720p at 30 fps, normal 640 at 30 fps, and a camera mode.
With my 8gb card at 1080p I can take around 1 hour and 20 mins of footage.
720p at 60 fps probaby around 1 hour 40 min.
The biggest thing that makes this camera stand out is its external mic jack.
You can plug in any mic to it, ive used a wireless lav, crappy radio shack mic, boom mic, and they all sound pretty good.
My only gripe that i can think of now is the zoom, rather than be a fluid optical zoom, it zooms in steps, which is annoying when trying to capture good shots.
I took some video last night of passion pit and phoenix in concert using 720p @ 60 fps if u guys wanna see it.
Let me know and ill upload it.
My girlfriend has the creative vado hd, but I would def have bought this for her if the price was right at the time.

If you update the firmware, the digital zoom is far more fluid. I highly recommend the firmware update.

This was the only point that kept me from buying one yesterday during Dell Days.

Which firmware is yours running? There is a firmware release that is supposed to fix, and make the zoom a bit more fluid.
