!Hot! PM at Rona/Home Depot: TORO 1800 Snowthrower for $297.00 CDN
An excellently hot PM opportunity for an extremely well-reviewed snowthrower, the TORO 1800. (If you can still find it in store)
Currently (until December 6), Home Hardware has it priced for $329:
!Update! Home Hardware has it on sale until December 6th!
new link: http://www.homehardware.ca/Products/...ow_12a_el_toro (I needed to go to "e-flyer" at the top and input my postal code before seeing a price on the page.
I purchased it at Home Depot for $389 last week. Pricematched (they have to beat it by 10%, that's 10% off the lowest price ($348), not 10% of the difference like FS/BB!!) it came to $313 . That's a total of $76 off from Home Depot, $126 off at Rona.
!Update! With new price, it comes to below 300 dollars! Hot!
Here are some reviews:
http://www.amazon.com/Toro-18-Inch-E.../dp/B00005OQMG
Hope you guys can track some down!
Edit: Can also pricematch at Rona (which has it for $429!!)! Advertised price ends December 6th! So hurry!Last edited by _RFDealt_; Dec 3rd, 2008 at 01:58 PM.

thanks op.
how much was the pricing at HD?
you saved $35 from the extra 10% difference, so i guess HD price was well over $600+?
i tried searching for toro 1080 on HD website but did not find anything.

Nice deal! Will definitely check it out this afternoon. Kinda wish it was a bit cheaper so it's not such a big leap from the Snow joe I was looking to buy, but a deal is a deal!

how did you price match it? bring a print out of the price from the lowe's website and show them?
reading from HD website : This price guarantee excludes competitors' promotional offers, sales tax, typographical errors, free offers, gift cards, gift certificates, rebates, clearance or close-out prices, credit or financing programs, used, damaged, returned, open box or display merchandise, special orders, delivery or assembly services, labour, installation, products furnished by Installation Services, online purchases through homedepot.ca, and prices obtained from any Internet website, online retailer or wholesale distributor.
so i can't print out the price from the lowe's website and show them that as proof?

Yup, I read those, but just want to know our RFD users reviews if anyone already own this.
Anyway, I took a printout from the link OP provided, I quickly drove to King St, Waterloo HD, there are around 3left on the floor (after I took one). Rep is very nice they quickly price matched after seeing the printout and got it for $313 (original is around $385?) and after taxes it is $354. Sweet deal.
Thanks OP.

This looks like a toy. It might be passable for American or BC winters, but how useful is it for the rest of Canada after an average snowfall? Anyone have one that they can offer input?

I picked one up last year just after Christmas. I live in the GTA. It was able to go through 10" of snow with no problem, you just have to take smaller swipes. It had difficulty with that icy mix at the end of the driveway, but if I got to that pile while it was still fresh, it was OK. Forward throwing distance was good at ~20-25'. Side throwing distance was much less. Working with a cord is a pain, but you get use to it.
I don't think that you can compare it with a gas thrower, but for the price, I thought it was well worth the money. Would I buy it again, absolutely.

Well, the site that I linked is a link from page 20 of their physical, actual flyer. If you go to the main Lowe's webpage and pull up the flyer, it's there. When I went in I printed both the flyer page and that individual item page because it had the details of the item.
And it worked great on the mini-snowfall we had earlier last week.Last edited by _RFDealt_; Nov 24th, 2008 at 12:07 PM.

its a decent blower
I bought a similar Craftsman (Sears) model for $229.00 last November. Identical except for that oversize handle thing. It got me through last year's snowy Ontario winter in good form. It doesn't have the guts of a big 8 hp gas model, but it works great for 90% of your typical snowfalls.

I don't think you will see it that cheap this year. I've been watching for a friend, and by now, I don't think it will go that low again. The typical list price for this should be around $399.00
If you are going electric, this is the model to get. It has as much power as you can get for an electric, and is low maintenance, which I really liked. I would not call this "HOT", but decent. F.Y.I. in case someone asks, my driveway is about 12' x 80'. It did the trick.

The reviews are significantly better than the same-sized snowjoe. Check out the snow joe reviews here:
