Is this offer still on today? I might go back to Ribfest for it. When would we receive the phone and I assume they don't start charging you until you receive the phone?

The Rogers plans are very expensive, no doubt, but the issue here is that this phone itself is very expensive. So if you want to have this particular phone the deal may actually make the plans somewhat reasonable, especially if you get the 6GB LTE data for 30$ and you manage to somehow (may be through retentions?) negotiate a 20$ voice to go with it, then you will have 6GB LTE data + some ripoff voice plan for a total of 50$ which is only 10$ more than Wind. Assuming you never pay any overage charges (may be by using Voice Over LTE only) over the 36 months you will pay a total of 360$ more than you would on Wind. So if you get the phone for free than it ends up costing you 60$ more than Wind. If you divide the 60$ over the 36 months, a 6GB LTE Canada Wide plan ends up costing less than 2$ more than a Wind Unlimited kindof 3G plan, so you could argue the Rogers deal is better.
Obviously if you buy a reasonably priced phone with similar or better features (i.e. Galaxy Nexus from Google) all the above calculations become crap and Rogers' true value (or lack of) is evident.

the phone might be a bit cheaper at the end compare to if you buy the phone outright
can you stand using 500mb for a month with rogers horriable data plan ?? with LTE you can use it up in a few days
you can get 6G for $30 but it's only from retention if you are lucky enough, this is a new plan so you are not getting the 6G $30
what happen if rogers descide to screw you with there monthly data charge ? i've got 6G 3g service with my iphone 4 before, i got a msg after 2 weeks and it said i used up 80% of my data ! in freaking 2 weeks !! i used data plan since the first date rogers offered and my monthly average is only 2-3G, i don't tether or do anything funny with my phone, hack, not even youtube (at most maybe once or twice / month)
and some how rogers is going to find a way to screw you over with your 3 years period with them, i used their service for more than 15 years (internet, tv cable, home phone and wireless) and now i don't even have a single service with them, rogers been losing customer and cutting there staff so you can tell how good / competitive the company is compare to the others.
i would never use any rogers service again unless i don't have a choice

faster speed doesn't mean you will use more.
If your usage is mainly youtube vid, you still spend same amount of time to watch same vid you would otherwise watch on 3G network. the difference is LTE gives you faster loading speed and thus reduce lag / delay / tearing
6G in 2 weeks without tethering / torrenting is basically impossible unless you constantly download application and delete them non stop 24/7. (Maybe time to check what is using your allocated data cap?)
I've been with Rogers for over 9 years now and yes i agree alot of their services are expensive. That resulted in me slowly moving out from Rogers. But your example is almost impossible to achieve unless you are a big downloader.
My record of monthly usage was 2G when I kept watching youtube on the bus. (don't watch HD vid, just watch normal resolution is fine. HD / normal resolution on a screen less than 5" doesn't make much difference.
That being said. the person you quoted from forgot GRRF and some other bs Rogers' hidden fee. Also your plan is subjected to change without violating the agreement; as stated in the contract you will sign when you get 3yr term with Rogers.

I figure Rogers is $30 more per month compared to Wind for comparable plans.
$30 x 36 months = 1080
So say the phone is worth $600, so you're paying $480 extra over 3 years to go with Rogers. Not bad considering you'll get much better signal quality, but it's still more expensive in the end plus you're capped on the data.
Honestly guys it's not worth getting a $500+ smartphone. Wait until they're $100 to $200 then jump on it.
I certainly wouldn't get this phone without seeing the iPhone 5 either.

^ There is NO doubt the phone's value will go down once the iP5 comes out, even if it's worse specced, let's say. There is just so much fanboyism and hype that skyrocket's the iPhone's value beyond comprehensible imagination.

that's what i think, IMPOSSIBLE !!!
but it happened, i checked my detail data usage, thorughout the month, everyday seems i have a normal usage just as all the other months previously, but on sunday, i used up like almost 2G !?!? that's the date i used the least data since i usually rest at home and using wifi connection. hack, i don't even use my phone much since i have an ipad at home connected with wifi. My previous XXX months, i only used 2-3G / month in total !!!!!
i swear to god i never even downloaded more than one app / month and when ever i can, i would have connected to wifi.
rogers is the biggest scammer out there and as i stated, i would never use there service again if i have a chance

It's not on sale., it's merely one dealer taking an aggressive stand at a unique spot to cash in on activations. Dealers will always do various things like eat their profits just to meet activations or what not.
Just hope they're not slipstreaming their own data cancellation penalty a-la-PacMall style LOLz.

I have to admit my information about Rogers is not up to date, since I don't have any services with them (very happy!!!
). I saw the 6GB LTE thread so I assumed they have reintroduced this offer for new activations like they had it before.
Of course, signing up on a 3 year term with LTE data on anything less than 6GB is absolutely ridiculous, you may as well go with the Rogers "pay per use" charges that they had, what was it like 50$/MB or something? LTE will go through so much data, with you doing the same activities you do over 3G, for example:
- Playing YouTube videos, over 3G (especially slower 3G) the video will take awhile to start then it will buffer slowly, using little data unless you watch the complete video. Over LTE all videos you start playing will instantly be fully downloaded, even if you have no intention of watching till the end. Multiple times higher data usage.
- Checking Facebook, over 3G most pictures will load slowly while you are reading, unless you keep the app open for long time or actually wait, not all pictures will download. Over LTE all pictures will download immediately. Again multiple times the data usage.
- Browsing the web, over 3G most bigger images/flash ads, will take awhile to load or potentially not load at all if you navigate to a different page. Over LTE all content will load almost instantly for most websites. Again, higher data usage.
- Listening to Google Music, over 3G songs will buffer and pre-download slowly. Over LTE only the app download limit will make the downloads stop, you could download your entire library without knowing it, if the app has no restrictions on how many songs to preload. Significantly more data usage.
- Video chat, over 3G the apps usually negotiate lower bitrate to accommodate the bandwidth. With LTE expect HD quality (assuming the other party is also on LTE or on a high speed connection). Multiple times the data usage.
- Tethering. That one will be the biggest hit. Over 3G most activities are slow, over LTE expect the same data usage as over your regular high speed internet (mine is about 3GB/day, I don't know about you).
So yes, the same usage pattern over LTE will generate considerably higher data consumption compared to 3G for most users. Thus we can say a 6GB LTE plan is roughly equivalent to a 2GB 3G plan for the average user. Now go ahead and sign up for 500MB LTE

Seriously though, if Rogers is not giving 6GB the Galaxy S3 then you are clearly much better off getting it on Wind and swapping a Speakout SIM (with UL for 10$/month + VPN) when travelling outside of a Wind zone. If you don't live in a Wind zone then I would say (assuming you can't live without Samsung Galaxy S3) getting the phone on-line + a Speakout SIM would be your only reasonable choice.

Why would someone consider a Rogers locked phone to be a hot deal is beyond me.
THEY ARE MORE THAN MAKING UP FOR THE FREE DEAL WITH THEIR SUPER EXPENSIVE PACKAGES.
If you compare whatever Rogers gives to what i have from Mobilicity plus the fact that i bought my own Galaxy Nexus at full price when it came out, it would still show that i spent about 600-1000 bucks less over a 3 years period.
