I think OCZ gets a bad rap because they were a little bit early to the SSD market.
Back then, most people did not have 4GB of RAM (or more), which means that if they used the SSD as their "main" OS drive, that there would be diskswapping. On a less than 1GB RAM system, you can literally have millions of read/write cycles per day (if you look carefully, your harddrive activity light will always constantly flash on newer systems)
Which will burn out any SSD in notime. If you do not have much RAM and wish to constantly disk-swap, you should consider the 50GB drives instead of the 60 GB drives, the extra space actually improves read/write cycle longevity.
Technically, I would not suggest *any* SSD to anyone with less than 4GB of RAM and disabled virtual disk swapping._______________

Problems with this deal:
1) It's SATA2
2) MIR
3) It's OCZ
If you do get one, update that firmware ASAP. It should take of some of the BSOD problems that OCZ SSD drives were having._______________

Running OCZ Solid 3 for over 8 months and can't complain. Except that my BIOS switch the main drive with the second SATA once in a while, which can be fixed in a reboot and less than 2 minutes. Can't say that problem is related to the OCZ drive as I am using a Beta version of a BIOS.
Also, the reliability of the drive isn't as important as the datadrive that runs in parallel with it as an SSD should only contain the OS and programs installed. I don't know anyone that run a computer using an SSD as the only storage drive.
The way my computer is configured, I have my main OS installed on both drives and a second OS installed on the mechanical hard drive. So in case of a failure, I will just have to get the drive replaced while the computer will still run fine using my mechanical hard drive. I know, it's a pain loading OS and applications on regular hard drive when you are used to SSD speed.

Failed as boot drive
Pick this up in october for the same deal but thru NCIX as part of a new rig. Used this drive as my boot drive, worked well for about 3 weeks (<20 second reboot cycle). Then I kept on getting check disk errors for bad sectors whenever I restarted my machine. Swapped for a new drive thru NCIX, fortunately did not have to deal with OCZ.
Sold the new drive, I am willing to wait slightly longer for boot times and loading if it means stability.
Also the MIR you get comes as a American Express Gift Card, a real pain if you ask me_______________

Sorry, no amount of $ is worth playing Sandforce roulette with your data and time.
I'd say spend the extra $40 on an Intel or Micron drive.

Dang too bad its only 60gb. I got an 80gb Vertex 2 about a year ago, it died 2 weeks after purchase (would not boot suddenly one morning after I had left the pc on overnight). Store was out of 80gb models for direct replacement so they gave me a 60gb and some other junk in exchange. Been running fine since then, but it was always in the back of my head that this thing might die anyday.
I am looking for ~120gb drive dedicated to games now._______________

The biggest issue here is not that the drive uses sandforce but that it's made by OCZ.
OCZ has sub-par quality control and an overall much higher failure rate than any of the other manufacturers (something around 5%, I believe, compared to an industry average of about 1-2%).
Also OCZ likes to throw in lower quality memory into their SSD's without actually changing the specs of the drive.
All of this information can be easily found with a quick google search. OCZ is notorious for un-reliability, which still persists today. Don't kid yourselves with the low pricing. There is a reason as to why the price is so low. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from OCZ.
