  • TD Infinity costs $29.95/month - or waived with a $5,000 minimum monthly balance
  • TD Select Service costs $14.95/month - or waived with a $3,500 minimum monthly balance
  • TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite costs $120/year
  • TD Platinum Travel Visa costs $99/year
  • TD Gold Elite Visa costs $99/year
It's obvious that "open a Select Service account, get one direct deposit, make two bill payments, get $150" is the best deal in the house.

No, you got the wrong info. about infinity account and select service. Anyway, best deal is to get select service which waive your credit card annual fee and get the $250.

I have a select service account with an elite credit card. Can I add another checking account and credit card for the bonus?

All those credit cards have huge annual fees which would nullify the effort to get the $250. So I'll think about getting the $150.

as an RFD'er this does not appeal to me... according to the site, you need to get either the Infinity ($14.95/month) or Select ($29.95/month) service to be eligible. unless you have $3500 or $5000 spare change and do not care about getting decent ROI on these amounts to waive the fees... this point is another downer for me. $15-$30 fees a month could mean a cell phone plan for some of us. if you really need the 8pm banking hours, then I guess it's good. if you really want to get this plan, hold onto the $150/$250 and put it towards those nasty monthly fees.

for those greedy ones, you should try to open the account close to Oct 14th... then pay the monthly fees up until you get the $150/$250 (which you will get in your account around the end of Jan 2012). That's about 4-5 months of service fees to pay or lost interest if you meet the minimum.

anyways, those are my pennies & sense :)

What's obvious is that paying $15 or $30 a month for Infinity or Select service is a lousy way to score $150 or $250. It's a much better deal to keep $3,500 or $5,000 balance, forgoing no more than $70 or $100 (vs. a 2% HISA) per year, and enjoy all the freebies like credit card, transaction fees, auto club, SDB, etc. — plus the $150/$250 "bribe."

again, only if you can afford having $3500/$5000 sitting there. some of us don't have that much laying around.

I would talk to TD/CT about this. It's hard to imagine that they'd let someone walk because of this if they meet the other requirements. There has to be a way around this requirement for people who don't get paid by direct deposit.

You must be a new client...

This offer is available to individuals 19 years of age or older who open a qualifying new personal TD Canadian Dollar Chequing Account by October 14, 2011. Individuals who have an existing chequing account or had one that was closed after May 1, 2011 are not eligible for this offer.
