There is a VIP sale this monday according to someone on this forum. VIP sale seems to be like a friend & Family sale...everything got a discount including products already on sale. (For example DSLR have often 10% off or $100 off so the T1i would be $809 or $799). We should have more details on this this weekend.

For your other question, that's a futureshop mystery for sure...

The FS sale on the T1i for $899 ends Aug. 23. The VIP sale or whatever is on Aug. 24th. So it's going to be 10% off the regular T1i price of $950.

I think 7D is the latest canon camera that is coming out.

The 7D has been rumored and confirmed to come out since 2007. Who know when it will appear.

Yah, the price WAS $799 at BB last night. I had it in my cart. I was debating about it and planning to get FS to PM the price today and save an additional $10, but the price went back up to $899 this morning.

DANG, if i saw that price, i would have bought it first with the lens, then after a while, if you decided not to buy that lens, just return it.. hehe but oh well, it might be a price error and maybe they wont honour it.

You do save 200$ at Best Buy when you get the T1i Kit + 55-250 IS Lens (price comes out to be 1149.99). Also i recommend getting the PSP on your camera for 190$ as they also offer free yearly cleaning on it as well...

lol...i don't know if you work for BB/FS or what, but paying $190 for extended warranty is rediculous. And I wouldn't trust them to clean my camera.

I paid $50 for 3 years extended warranty through Mack Cameras on my Canon 40D i bought 2 years ago. Never had to use it yet but Mack's warranty have good reputation.

I had a good experience with the futureshop service plan on my old Canon SD450. The sensor developed a green pixel when capturing video and I was getting some strange banding on full-rez photos. They ended up giving me an SD870 IS as a replacement. Right before my wedding too!

what should i check for with an openbox camera?... base on a quick look in the store I don't see any scratchs on the lens.

It's $854.99.. well basically, it is more expensive than the price i got from NCIX if you factor in the PST.

that is a nice price!!! well i think you should check the shutter count (actuation)... cz i know XSi has at most (IIRC) 50000 actuations for the life of the body. Check if there's any dust inside the body etc etc..

a company is not considered authorized doesn't mean u can't get warranty because this is how it works; a larger distributor will be the authorized seller (ex. Supercom, D&H, etc) and as long as a company like (ex. NCIX, anitec) register and become a customers of the distributor, they are authorized to sell the products (Canon would have the info that NCIX is selling their products). An authorized distributor means they have reach certain strict requirements to be listed under authorized and have the company name/logo listed...once each company is registered at the distributor, they would be eligible one demo units at a really great discounted price as well

Precisely. If I walk into Costco, buy 5 Canon cameras and sell them in my store, the buyers are covered by the Canon warranty. It has nothing to do with me an authorized dealer.

What an authorized dealer usually gets is better service and support from Canon, more promotional material and corporate publicity etc.
