Is this a Lightroom alternative ? And if it is - does it do cataloging and raw development or only one of the two ?

Yes, and it does have organizing but I find the editing part is not as complete and powerful as LR, as expected. It is more like lever on / off, automated operation, although for some may be that is all they are looking for. Wouldn't hurt to try and it does handle RAW files as well.
