Hi all,
I have to drive from Oshawa to London on Monday morning, need to arrive in London by 10am. Not sure what to expect interns of traffic and travel time - has anyone driven to London from the GTA during morning rush before? How much time should I budget for travel? Sould I take the 401 or 403 all the way there?
Thanks!

Leave at 5 am and just rough it out (nap in your car etc.) or find a coffee shop if your there early.

WB 401 is pretty mach smooth sailing west of Mississauga road. However, it is a big traffic jam all the way from, I dunno, Ajax, to 427 starting at least 7 am.
Google claims 3 hour drive 'Shwa to London. Leave at 6 am (to give you an extra hour to get through Toronto) and you should be fine.

If you take the 401, you might have to leave around 5:30 am. I'm not sure about the traffic between Oshawa and Toronto, but it takes a bit less than 3 hours to get to London from the east end of Toronto.

Agreed. The stretch of the 401 from Scarborough to Mississauga (not sure what the 401 traffic is like in Durham) usually has heavy traffic and an accident or two or a rainstorm can really screw the pooch. If you get to London early, reward yourself for waking up early with a nice big breakfast.

Under normal conditions, it is about 2.15 hours to get to london from Oshawa (I go to Sarnia often that takes me 3.15 hrs to drive). I also drive into work from Oshawa starting at 5am. At that time the traffic is very light. If you left around 5:30am you would get to London much to early (unless you are OK with that). I would say with rush hour traffic. leaving anywhere from 6:30am to 7am you should be fine, but I would not leave any later than that.

Take the 407 and switch to Hwy 2 (Dundas Str.) in Burlington ... both are much faster than the 401... when you get to London at 10am, Dundas Street will be mostly clear sailing between Airport Rd (or what ever it's called now!) and Clark Side Road, and mostly 40-50km between CSR and Richmond.
What part of London are you going?

Relatively smooth after 427 at 730 am but with more and more construction, you never know.
On a side note, what the eff is going on with 401? They extending the expressway?_______________
TEAM CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!
