How to become a Business Analyst?
Hi folks,
I need some career advices on how to become a BA from a Software Developer.
A little bit background about myself: I am currently working as Software Developer co-op in IBM (finishing 16 months co-op by end of April, 2011). My major is Information Technology(stream in Health Industry). I am highly interested in becoming a Business Analyst/Consultant/Project Management role as my future career goal(next 5 years).
There is a certificate in Business Analysis offered by U of T which can be done in a couple of months OR Masters Certificate in Business Analysis which cost 10k to do it.
Is a certificate good starting point for becoming a BA?
Thanks all.

Getting certification is always a good starting point. But you're also going to need business knowledge. Figure out which industry you want to go into and get educated/experienced/trained in that field.

What industry are you looking at? Project management is more general and I believe there is a certification available for that route.
