How to block internet ads in Flash Format??
There are numerus programs now that can filter out and block embedded ads in webpages, but they have to be in pictorial format (i.e. jpg, gif)
I've noticed that online advertisers are catching up and more and more of them are now using *.swf format (macromedia flash). anyone know how to block these? what program do you use?...this is getting really annoying
thanks

Yeah, it's one thing to have ads. It's another to intentionally force them on people who are trying to block them and don't want to see them. Makes me angry.

I`m a big fan of adblock+ (slightly different than adblock) and Flashblock.

Updating your HOSTS file (under Windows) will do 99% of your work for you. I use this:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
I have adblock installed, but I haven't had to target any new ads with it...just about every ad under the sun comes from one of the domains in that hosts file.
A caveat - RFD's affiliate links do too....so you have to edit them out.

If you are using Firefox, then a combination of Flashblock and a modified userContent.css works really well. Privoxy also presents a nice alternative to host file redirection.
