How can I remote control my home computer from school (in stealth mode)?

OK I know about programs such as LogMeIn and TeamViewer which allows you to do this. But I don't want anyone at my home to see what I'm doing from school on my home computer. NO- I'm not trying to watch porn! I want to mainly browse the web through my internet connection- sort of like web proxies but through MY Internet. How can this be achieved?

Windows own remote desktop with the concurrent connections hack applied. This one is for XP,

if not on XP just look for the one for the version you are using.

Use a router with Tomato to set up an SSH connection.

On your USB key keep tunnelier or some other portable SSH app with your public key on it and a portable firefox set up to use the tunnel.

As an extra precaution I would format the USB key NTFS and then give permission for 'everyone' to read/write only to a directory you create on the key. This will make it impossible to get a virus.

Completely secure and works like a charm.

install VNC on your home computer, set it up to access through a browser and use port forwarding on your router.

at school, open a browser to your IP address with port number and you're set.

VNC won't let you start an invisible remote connection that is undetectable to the home user as far as i know. The user at home will have his screen taken over. Same for all those other LogMeIn type applications.

Remote desktop will boot the home user out and lock their screen.

Stormy13's remote desktop hack sounds very cool. I have to look and see if there's an equivalent for windows 7 since i would find this useful.

Leaving remote desktop ports wide open and then connecting from public computers?? Uh... not for me thanks.

My option might take some research if you don't know what you're doing but from a security standpoint there is no comparison. Also, your home computer could be turned off and it would still work since you are only connecting to your router.

Guess my reply didn't fit into the actual thread context very well.

I was responding saying that vnc won't work.

I was also mentioning that i didn't know about the remote desktop terminal services hack and would find that useful within my secure home network.

I failed to mention that your idea was the best option for the OP for security and ease of use as long as he has a tomato capable router. Especially the fact that you're doing it through the router and not the computer.

There is still useful information in this thread that other people might benefit from.

If that is his new account I hope you realize that trolls get no greater satisfaction that pissing people off and being followed around on forums.
Ignore the trolls and they go away.

How the hell is this trolling? All because I'm using his avatar, I'm being accused of being him. Maybe one should check his posts, and mines- and see they are very different form of style and language.

Just for that answer, it pretty much confirms that you are KK.
