I recall temperatures like those last year. A couple of days were under -30C with the wind chill.

How cold does Toronto get in the coldest day of the year?
It’s -24°C here now, the frost is so hard it took me 10 minutes to get it off. You guys must be pretty lucky over here, must still be above 0. So in the coldest day of a typical year, what would the temperature be?

Winnipeg is the coldest. Last year we had several -45C (with windchill) days.

We've hit -40 easily with windchill.

Nov 16th, 2005 08:54 AM #7When I got hired as a Correctional Officer, I had to go to an outside shooting range in -43 and shoot the shotgun with no gloves! For those who say it doesn't get cold in Toronto, try firing a shotgun with frostbitten fingers and a frozen shoulder.

-40 is not uncommon, although not an everyday thing either._______________

Put it into perspective, it could be worse.
The coldest inhabited village on earth is Oymyakon, in Yakutia, eastern Siberia, Russia. Temperatures there can drop to as low as -70°C The average in January, the coldest month, is -50°C .
Just remember to complain a lot..it helps...such as when someone asks you... " How Cold Is It? " ....a good Canadian reply is " Its colder that a witch's tit out there !! " or " Lord tunderin' Jesus ...it's cold !! "

Well Toronto is more moderate because of the lakes. It does not really get cold here at all. Right now it is 10C. On the weekend it was 15C. This is in November. The coldest it gets is like -30C, or -40C with windchill. But that won't happene every year.
I am pretty sure Winnipeg is the coldest city in Canada. Followed by Edmonton and Regina.
The last year I was in Edmonton, it hit something like -65C with wind chill for a few days. OMG, going to work was hell. It was even worse for Red Deer which was at that temp for roughly 2 weeks._______________

well the -24C I stated above wasn't involving windchill factor, it's raw temperature gauge measurement, and that's right now, today. below -55°C with windchill is not uncommon in jan/feb.

toronto's weather is quite mild but as people have pointed out we have a few crazy days between february-march. there's usually 1 blizzard and the windchill drops us down past -28*C. at most, there's a 3 week freeze then everything turns to grey slush again.
